  Video Applications

Camera
The GS1582 serializer is ideally suited for camera applications, with its low power consumption and standby mode feature. The GS1582 also integrates the audio multiplexer and cable driver into the serializer device for reduced board space.

Consumer Connectivity
Today's high-definition consumer electronics provide users outstanding image and audio quality. However, in order to utilize the full spectrum of features, higher data rates are required. This increase in needed bandwidth over long distances requires precision signal integrity - something that is challenging for current cable technology. Gennum ActiveConnect™ technology enables cable manufacturers and home theater installers to provide competitively priced, high-performance HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity solutions at up to 100 meters - the longest reach currently available to the consumer market.

Digital Video Router
A video router is essentially a large crosspoint system comprising multiple inputs and multiple outputs, i.e. any input can be connected to any output. Video routers are typically available in a range of size, e.g. 16x1, 32x32, 256x256, and architectures, e.g. modular allowing for incremental I/O increases.

Distribution Amplifier - Coax
Distribution Amplifiers (DAs) are designed to distribute a single video source to multiple destinations. A typical re-clocking DA consists of an adaptive cable equalizer, re-clocker and multiple cable drivers including an active input loop-through.

High End Projector System

Monitor
Professional monitors are ideally used for critical broadcast, post production, and multimedia monitoring applications.

Professional A/V System
Professional Audio/Video systems combine video transmission, processing, scaling, and format conversion technologies in a single box. These systems are used to enhance the video quality of Plasma TVs, LCD TVs, RPTVs, and projectors.

Video Production Switcher
Production switchers are used to switch and combine video sources during live and post production. The heart of the production switcher is the ME or Mix Effects bank which is used for the combining of video sources via a number of different methods including mixing, layering, linear keying, chromakeying, etc. The number of MEs required is dependent upon the application, e.g. a live multi-camera large sports event could use up to 4 MEs whereas a simple single camera shoot could use just a single ME switcher.
