Gennum Names Chad Hutchison as New General Counsel
Experienced Legal Executive to Join Gennum’s Team
BURLINGTON, Ontario – January 28, 2008 – Attracting top talent from one of Canada’s iconic public companies, Gennum Corporation (TSX: GND) today announced that Chad Hutchison has joined the company as its new General Counsel. Previously, Hutchison was General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Stelco Inc. (now U.S. Steel Canada Inc.), a leading Canadian steel producer. In his new role, he will manage all of Gennum’s legal and regulatory matters, reporting to Dr. Franz Fink.
"Chad’s work with multi-billion dollar Canadian corporations has given him a broad background in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance practices and general securities law," said Dr. Franz Fink, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gennum. "I am pleased to welcome Chad to the team as his experience will help take Gennum into its next phase of accelerated growth."
Hutchison oversaw all legal matters at Stelco, including its recent sale to United States Steel Corporation. Prior to that, Hutchison was a partner at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, engaged in corporate and securities law practice, where he advised on significant corporate finance and mergers and acquisition transactions, as well as on general corporate, securities law and public company matters.
"Gennum has made significant progress over the last year in its strategy to more closely focus on its core competencies and create new avenues for company growth," said Hutchison. "I look forward to joining the Gennum team and providing counsel to the company as it continues its expansion in these areas via acquisitions, strategic relationships and licensing agreements."
Hutchison holds a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Western Ontario, and an LLB degree from the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University (Toronto, Ontario).
