Gennum’s 3Gb/s Cable Equalizer Solution Enables Advanced Test Equipment for Streamlined Development of Next-generation 3 Gb/s SDI Products

BURLINGTON, September 22, 2008 – Continuing to pioneer new developments in 3 gigabits per second (Gb/s) SDI technology, Gennum Corporation (TSX: GND) today announced that Tektronix, Inc., a leading supplier of test, measurement, and monitoring instrumentation, have implemented Gennum’s 3Gb/s equalizer solutions in its award-winning WFM7120 waveform monitor. The advanced monitoring equipment provides customers in the equipment design, manufacturing and broadcast industries with 3Gb/s SDI test and analysis capabilities helping ensure compliance to the standard and propelling the 3Gb/s market forward.

At the National Association of Broadcasters conference in April, Tektronix announced the addition of 3Gb/s Single Link Serial-Digital-Interface (SDI) support to the WFM7120 waveform monitor. The capability was added via two options, including a monitoring option (3G) and a jitter measurement option (JIT). With the addition of 3Gb/s SDI support for monitoring 1080p 50/59.94/60 levels A and B, HD-SDI and SD-SDI, the WFM7120 provides the most precise, highly reliable and broadest range of tools for every critical monitoring point in the digital video ecosystem.

Gennum is providing Tektronix with equalizer solutions that are capable of supporting 3Gb/s. The GS2974A is a high-speed equalizer designed to equalize and restore signals received over 75W co-axial cable. Since all parts are 100 percent production tested for key specifications like output jitter across cable length, parametric performance is not only guaranteed by design, but also ensured through full-functional at-speed testing.
